About the Presentation

Shining Light Video, Lighting and Tech Support

We seek to bring a very special event to people who are often in very challenging circumstances. We present hope and answers we have found to audiences that are often mostly non-Christians. In addition to designing the presentation to meet our audiences where they are at, we use many current tools of the performing arts to raise the impact of the presentation and bridge gaps that may appear to exist as we enter their world.

Our goal is to get the attention of our most skeptical audiences as soon as they enter the room. A very common question we are asked at the end of the presentation, partially about our entire stage and tech setup is, "Why would you do this for us?" We want them to get a tangible glimpse of an extravagant and generous God and find that our tech setup is part of the way to get this across.

Our lighting is very similar to a current touring artist's lighting program on a smaller scale. At each presentation our entire group participates in erecting a 50' truss in front of the stage and a 30' truss at the rear of the stage. On this we have over 60 fixed and moving lights. We also set up a 17' x 24' stage with 5 levels along with a small side stage and a 9' x 12' screen.

Our projection system provides a variety of images, moving videos, and words to accompany songs and special productions. We sometimes use video to add to dramas with scenes that cannot be easily created on stage.

Our sound system includes some of the best components available. Top of the line EAW loudspeakers along with 56 channels on our sound boards, 15 wireless microphones, etc. enables our technicians to provide the volume and clarity needed for all kinds of drama and music in the most challenging rooms and situations.

Our "tech area" located at the rear of the audience includes control for all parts of these systems. This area includes 3-5 computers, control boards, and monitors. It is operated by 4-5 technicians during the presentation.

We travel with a 61KW generator to provide the over 200 amps of power needed for the tech part of the production. This enables us to be completely self sufficient and offer our presentation nearly anywhere. We are also equipped to connect directly to house electrical systems when available in large auditoriums or when necessary in secure facilities.

A 48' trailer is used to transport the entire setup. To enable us to bring this presentation to the most challenging places, we have custom designed all components so that they are on wheels or can be placed on easily movable carts. The setup process has been critically refined over the years and can be done in approximately 60 minutes. The members of Shining Light are each given detailed tasks enabling us to move the 16 tons of equipment into position and complete setup quickly and efficiently. This is followed by 90+ minutes of preparation specifically for that location. Teardown takes approximately 60 minutes.
